Radium is Element # 88

1.) My Name The origin of the name Radium comes from the Latin word "radius" meaning "ray". It was discovered in France in 1898 by Pierre and Marie Curie. It's known as:
- In Italy- Radio
- In France: Radium
- In England: Radium
2.) My Image
3.) My Nucleus

4.) My Electrons A radium mass has 88 electrons in 7 energy levels. 86 of a radium atom's electrons are on energy levels one through 6. The last 2 electrons are on the 7th level energy. The electrons on the highest, or outermost, energy level called valence electrons and lost during chemical reaction. When one is lost a radium ion with a charge of +2 is formed because the ion has 2 more protons then it has electrons.

5.) My Atom Not all radium atoms have a weight of 226 amu. Some weigh as little ass 222 amu, and others as much as 228 amu.All radium atoms have 88 protons or else they would have different elements, the difference in the weight is caused by a different number of neutrons.

6.) My Properties Is a silvery, lustrous, soft, intensely radioactive. It readily oxidizes on exposure to air, turning from almost pure white to black. It is luminescent, corrodes in water to form radium hydroxine. The heaviest member of the alkiline- earth group it is the most volatile.

7.) My Home (body, Planet, Universe)

8.) My Compounds Radium comes from halogens, oxygen, hydrogen and other compounds. For each compound, a formal oxidation number of radium is given but the usefulness of this number is limited p-block elements in particular.

halogenhydrogen
9.) My Story Was fomerly used in self- luminious paints for watches, nuclear panels, aircraft switches, clocks, and instrument dials. In the mid-1920s, a lawsuit was filed by 5 dying "Radium Girls" dial painters who had painted radium-based luminious paints on the dials of switches and clocks. Used in medicine to produce radon gas, cancer treatment. at the beginning of the 19th century radium was used as addictive in products like toothpaste, hair cream, and even food items.

10.) My Job(s) Is treated as calcium by the body, and deposited in the bones, where radioactivity degrades marrow and can mutate bone cells

Why Big Fr and Hungry F

1. Why Francium is the biggest ekement with the lowest IE and EN?
Since Fransium has seven shells that make the valance electrons loose attraction from the nucleus that makes it very easy for Fr to lose its valence electrons.

2. Why Helium is the smallest element with the highest IE?
It only has one shell meaning that its electrons are close to its nucleus and the attraction is strong and only has two electons.

3. Why Noble Gases don't have EN values?
Noble gases don't have EN because its the most nonreactive group in the periodic table and don't jave trendency to gain electron.

4. Why Flourine has the highest EN?
Flourine is only needs one electrons to gain for it to have its full shells.
